So much to see...

County Louth is the smallest county in Ireland, part of the ancient kingdom of Oriel, and runs from Carlingford Lough to Drogheda in the south. The County is steeped in history and worth visiting are the remains of early settlements such as the massive passage graves of the Boyne valley and the smaller court cairns and dolmens of the Dundalk - Carlingford area.

Locally, the medieval heritage town of Carlingford nestles beneath Slieve Foy on the edge of Carlingford Lough. The town has much of interest ranging from its arched gateway, massive ruins of King John’s Castle and ruined 14th century Dominican abbey to 16th century keep and tower house (“The Mint”) Quite breathtaking views of Carlingford Lough unfold in the drive through the “Windy Gap”, past the “Long Woman’s Grave” and down through Ballyoonan to the centre of the popular holiday village of Omeath.

Even the unspoiled Mourne Mountains and, farther afield, the World Heritage site of the Giant's Causeway are within reach making the Cooley Peninsula an ideal holiday base.
